Money Pages and J.D. Byrider have launched a food drive for Safehouse of Jacksonville, an outreach ministry for the needy.
Collection containers have been placed at the headquarters of Money Pages, a monthly coupon publication, and four area locations of J.D. Byrider, a used car and finance company. And they encouraged other companies or organizations, particular those with heavy foot traffic, to place a container at their sites for collection of canned or dry goods, according to a news release.
Safehouse feeds about 1,400 people a month but recently has experienced a shortage of donated food. In July, the outreach only received four cases compared to the normal 15 to 25 cases.
The Money Pages and J.D. Byrider initiative is a response to the Safehouse need, according to the release.
Money Pages is located at 8375 Dix Ellis Trail, Suite 201 in Jacksonville. J.D. Byrider locations are 9590 Atlantic Blvd., 1285 Cassat Ave. and 7739 Blanding Blvd., all in Jacksonville, and 2640 U.S. 1, South St. Augustine.
The collection boxes will be there at least through Labor Day and could stay longer.
